Hello there, I am not sure if this forums still gets read from time to time, but just throwing it out there.
So I've told my 2 best friends (both female) my love for wetlook and they're very understanding of this, they're also completely cool with me being super turned on when they're in wet clothes. Then at some point one of them got wet for me in her clothes a couple of times and let me film it.
I told her that she could probably try, make a more professional video and sell it here on UMD, which she liked very much. We told our other friend as well, and she was on board too. We've got semi-professional filming equipment, and basically everything we think we would need.
Now obviously I've only seen the requirements to upload a video here to sell it. I've got no idea how many people are actually buying video's. I've seen the endresult many times as I've bought quite a few videos from here (on another UMD account). But I've never actually created a video to sell.
So I was wondering if any of you guys could give your thoughts on this, we've scheduled to film friday, make a wetlook video with 2 girls without nudity and see if we could sell that here. Is there anything that might not seem obvious we should think about, what can we expect in terms sales? Should I go and make some post on the wetlook forum about it? Is there anywhere else I should advertise?
Hoping anyone can give some input, thanks in advance!
Wetlook is fun to do and fun to film, but (excuse the pun) it's also a saturated market. You'll be competing with dozens of sites some of which have thousands of scenes available. I just looked at my sales stats since the start of 2018, only 10% have been wetlook scenes.
Part of the problem is there is tons of free wetlook out there, both scenes from Hollywood (and also Bollywood) movies, and also YouTube videos of wedding parties getting thrown in pools, people having pool parties, larking about, etc. Personally I don't bother with stuff like that for a variety of reasons (which is why I still shoot wetlook myself) but lots of people do and it definitely affects sales of produced material. It's much rarer to find well fillmed mud or messy scenes "in the wild".
If you do want to get into wetlook production, first rule is "film the scenes you personally want to see", that way if they don't sell you still have something you can enjoy. That's advice I got from a major wetlook producer back in the 90s and it's still just as valid today. Also consider exactly what you particularly like - what is your personal "money shot", and make sure that is captured in your footage. In my case it's seeing a girl's legs and lower trunk going from dry to wet - so in one of my scenes, you will always have clear views of her skirt or trousers as the actual wetting is happening. I also prefer a relatively slow wetting. Others are more into seeing girls get wet instantly, say jumping into a pool, or are more interested in headshot close-ups as water is poured over her head, etc. A mistake many rookies make is to think that the model's head has to be centre of the frame. In wetlook, which is usually about fully clothed scenes, the model's head should be at the top of the frame so we can see all of her outfit as she gets wet.
The main other place to advertise is the Minx wetlook forum at forum.minxmovies.com where you'll find a lot of wetlook advertised that never appears here. Note that unlike here it allows anonymous posting, and once something is posted it cannot be edited at all, so always double check and fully proof read before submitting a post (there is a preview so you can refine before posting).
I started out just shooting my adventures and putting them on my web-site for free. I made the movies I wanted to see (as DungeonMaster pointed out), and I had fun making them.
When I started selling them and making money, that was just a bonus.
If you have a good time and you don't expect to make money, you won't be disappointed.
I would add, please be considerate of production value. The content is important, but shaky, hand-held, or poorly lighted videos are hard to watch. Also, audio quality matters a lot. You don't need professional gear. You just need to work with your light sources (keep the light behind the camera), use a tripod or other stabilizer, and pay attention to audio levels, background noise, etc.
Wetlook videos can be super sexy. I hope you have fun and make some great clips!
I agree with dungeonmasterone and muddough. Film what you want to see but I would add: film what your models want to do. Make sure that they have fun. If your models enjoy themselves, then they will be more fun to watch. Most people buy wam videos because they want to see a model, getting wet or messy, who enjoys it and don't want to see a model who looks like a sad wet cat waiting till she/he can shower and go home.
